We are looking for a creative and dedicated individual to join our team in illustrating and designing children’s books that celebrate the rich cultural heritage and stories of Africa.

  • Position: Illustrator + Layout Designer (Children’s Books)
  • Location: Online (Remote)
  • Duration: Project-Based (Starting with a Story Assignment)

Bokobokids Village is an ecosystem with a dynamic and socially conscious publishing house committed to sharing the magic of African stories with young readers around the world. Our mission is to promote cultural diversity and inclusivity changing the narrative about Afro-descendants through engaging and visually stunning children’s books. We are excited to collaborate with a talented illustrator and layout designer who shares our passion for African narratives and storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Illustrate characters, scenes, and elements for children’s books inspired by African folklore, traditions, and culture.
  • Design layout compositions, ensuring seamless integration of text and illustrations for an engaging reading experience. Therefore, you provide the final product, ebooks and books under our guidance.
  • Collaborate closely with authors, editors, and the creative team to bring stories to life visually.
  • Maintain a consistent artistic style and adhere to project deadlines.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in digital illustration and graphic design software (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, etc.).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing previous work in illustrating and designing children’s books.
  • Genuine passion for African culture, folklore, and storytelling.
  • Ability to adapt artistic style to suit different narratives and age groups.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

This position begins with a story assignment, allowing us to assess your skills and compatibility with our projects. If both parties are satisfied with the results, there is potential for ongoing collaboration on future children’s book projects.
